What is A1 Grand Prix?

Al Grand Prix is the first single make open wheel auto racing sport championship where all the competitors represents their nations, the teams and the driver represents their country and compete against one another.

The format of the A1 Grand Prix was just like Formula One series, such that it was often promoted as world cup of motor sport. And international British firms Lola and zytek engineering was hired for making the chassis and engine based on the Sheikh Maktoum drawing while the US company Cooper Tires was chosen for official A1 GP tyre supplier.

After receiving the backing from FIA in 2005 a management structure of executive directors were appointed for the sale of franchise overseas. A1 GP created a new way of promoting national and international brands to a global market.

What does 'A1' mean?

The word A1 in the Grand Prix summarizes the key A1 GP collectively known as world cup of Motor Sports showing unity and excellence.
